...and away we go!
After a week of trying to get my carpal tunnel test results faxed to my surgeon (Yes! It took these people SEVEN days and 4 different fax numbers to get it there), I'm scheduled for surgery. Thursday morning will find me trying to be be brave (and modest!) as I lay in that super-humbling hospital gown thing. I hate those things. Let's be honest. This is a surgery on my hands. I can wear a shirt, right? Guess not. Anyway, I hear it will only take about an hour per hand if everything goes well (fingers crossed, please!), then 6 weeks of healing and then 6 weeks of strengthening. During the first six weeks I am not allowed to exceed 5 pounds of pressure or lifting. I cannot get my hands wet in the shower until two or three weeks in, when I get my stitches out. Ooh, I've never really had stitches before. I hope I behave myself and don't get tempted to pull them out myself. My grandma does that. Shame on her.
By week 4 I can finally take a bath again and soak my hands. Oh that will be so nice to be able to get out of the bathtub again without bruising my knee (don't ask).
So that's how my next month or two is looking. I'll try to rein in my excitment. No, seriously, I was terrified and now I'm just.....ready. Let's do this thing.
