We had one of the best days in recent memory yesterday. Sometimes for me the funnest days are the ones that you take by ear.
We knew we wanted to do something fun yesterday, but what? After googling events happening yesterday, we got in the car, picked up our pal Joshua, and headed for Logan. We had decided to either go to this Broadway Revue thing at USU or a play at Weber State, depending on where we were when it was time to get tickets. We decided in advance to stay in Logan and see the Broadway thing.
We started out with Gossner's Cheese. We picked up some squeaky cheese, and some other good stuff, had our fair share of samples, and once more hit the road. Sadly, the visitor information center was closed...but the Bluebird Candy Company was open! We had a few chocolates so good they made us swoon (and I'm not even all that fond of chocolate!) and then went to Smith's to find a cheapo cooler for the cheese.
Smith's turned out to be a gold mine. Not just because of the cooler, nor the time spent lounging on their fabulous outdoor furniture. No. It's because we found some ridiculously exciting toys. Oh, yes. We got little foam airplanes and a ball. Then we found a beautiful park.
After feeling like idiots because we had such a difficult time putting said little kids planes together, victory was ours! Well, not mine because I bent it and so it flew wonkily, but whatever. We had a great time throwing them and acting like little kids until both Richard's and Joshua's caught the same breeze and flew into the pond. Richard immediately dealt with this emergency water landing by kicking off his shoes and socks, and getting into the still very cold water. Now is that devotion, or what?
After both planes were saved, we decided to play with the ball for a while. This led to the creation of a new game called Roll, Jackass, Roll. Yes, it is every bit as exciting as it sounds. By this point, the sun kept disappearing behind the clouds, it was very windy, and Richard was wet. So now what? The logical answer of course...let's go get ice cream and eat it outside! It took me forever to eat my fabulous Pina Colada ice cream (!) because I was laughing so hard. Between the guy Richard thought he knew, some guy with an embarassingly fake tan, the many faces of Wilford Brimley, and the pure, unadulterated joy that comes with the knowledge that Funyuns are still around...I laughed so hard I was almost crying. I LOVE when that happens!
Finally, it was time to head over to get our tickets for the musical part of our evening. Luckily, we had our planes to keep us busy once more. The guys' planes had survived the water mission, but mine ended up more kind of like a stunt plane. It was great.
The Broadway thingamajig was pretty alright too. It wasn't what we were expecting...nearly at all...but I still thought it was a good way to spend an hour or two.
All in all, a fabulous day. Richard and I went home and slept like babies.
