Word to My Mother :)

Last September, Richard and I were enjoying lunch at our favorite restaurant when a piece of chicken rudely lodged itself in my esophagus. After much embarrassment and a huge mess, I went to the ER and after four hours of spitting into a bucket, I had an endoscopy to get that darn chicken out.

Well, since then, I still get food stuck every now and then, and though it's never been as serious as that first day, it's still really scary. I panic, it's hard to breathe, and I'm seriously getting scared to eat. I get the hiccups at least twice a day, I can feel every bite of food work its way allll the way down, and sometimes I can feel abdominal spasms. Now, I'm no doctor, but I kinda don't think that's normal.

So fast forward to this week. Richard and I were celebrating his new job by having lunch together before I went to my Mom's for the night and Richard went to work. Guess what happened? Yeah. Broccoli in the esophagus. This is not as enjoyable as it may sound. So, I'm incredibly paranoid that I'm going to totally choke to death soon, and it takes me about an hour to eat anything these days.

Enter my fabulous Mom. She works at Central Utah Surgical Center, and she's already got me all lined up for surgery when we get back from California/Vegas. It's really scary, I'm not looking forward to it, but after Dr. Thorpe does whatever he does, including dilation (yeah, I'm not very comfortable or fond of that word), I won't be scared to death anymore! Hooray! So I guess this post is just a great big thank you to my mom for getting me all set with a good doctor to make up for whatever those incompetent jackasses at Jordan Valley Hospital did to me.

We're going on vacation from the 13th to the 18th. So I'll update then.

Thanks Mom, you're the best!
