We are now farmers!

It has been quite a long time since I (Richard) contributed to this blog. My only excuse is that I'm awfully busy these days and after a day at work staring at a screen, it's hard to come home and do the same. That said, here's my lovely (much anticipated) blog post.

Today was really awesome. Lyndsie's parents came down and brought a rototiller thing and we tilled up our first garden. We have been so excited to finally have the chance to grow a garden and now that the dream is within reach, we are ecstatic! Okay, maybe not ecstatic, but very pleased and anxious to start putting plants in the ground.

We haven't decided exactly what we're going to plant yet, as we just today learned how much space we have to work with. There's still a lot of work to do, but we put in a full day's effort today and really made a lot of progress. Our goal is to grow a lot of vegetables so we don't have to keep buying them and hopefully having them around will encourage us to actually eat our vegetables. At least that's what I'm thinking...

So why is the picture about chickens masquerading as cows for the blind farmer? Because it was funny, that's why. :)

In addition to plowing the garden, we got a lot of work done on building our new shed. It's this 8' x 10' one you see in this picture that we bought from Lowes. Isn't it pretty? Okay, I'll be honest, though this is the right kind of shed, it isn't ours. Ours is mostly a floor frame in the back yard. Soon ours will look this pretty. And we'll have a place to store our tools! Isn't that lovely? I think it is.

There's plenty else going on in our lives. I just started using a CPAP, we're going to Florida on a business trip/vacation in two weeks, and work has been super stressful lately. But that stuff's not half as exciting as our garden and shed (note the pictures above).

One last set of thoughts for the day. Lyndsie sometimes says rather unusual and funny things and I feel it's high time to share them with the world. The other day, we saw a duck just chillin' in the middle of a thing of grass. Lyndsie said "I love randomly placed birds!" Yeah, I practically had to scrape myself off my seat after my laughing fit.

Another thing she said is "Do you know how hard it is to draw an alpaca freehand?" I couldn't tell you the context of the conversation, but here's an example of a drawn alpaca. I'm sure it's harder than it looks.

****Note From Lyndsie*****

Alpacas are super hard to draw freehand when you don't know what they look like. And we also celebrated our 6th anniversary this week. Hooray! Kay, bye.

This was terrific, was not expecting a drawing of one of those horse looking things, but hooray nonetheless. :)
