Happy 2010!

With the new year upon us, it's time again to make those resolutions. Last year I was very successful (I said I was going to quit drinking and smoking. Since I've never done either, it's kind of a cheat, but hey I decided it still counted). This year though, I'm going to take it seriously and actually work at it. I'd love to lose weight this year, and I'm going to make it happen. But I'm not phrasing it that way. It's too vague, and I'm not going to say something like..."I want to lose so many pounds by such a time." No. I'm going to just resolve to get up and do something active every day.

We got a Wii for Christmas this year, and Richard and I wasted no time in dropping bank at Best Buy. We bought Wii Fit, and I'm excited to give it a whirl. I also bought 3 different exercise DVDs. I opened two of them today. First up was The Dirty Dancing Workout. I think I'm going to have to work my way up to this one. I could say it's because I've been sick for a while. But I'll be honest. It's been a while since I was at the gym regularly. So although I was enchanted with the English accents and the familiar music, first I think I'm going to have to master the Dance Your Ass Off DVD. If you haven't heard of "Dance Your Ass Off," it's a somewhat cheesy yet heartwarming show on the Oxygen network. Basically, it's a dancing/weight loss competition show. But it's amazing how well these people did. A few of the contestants lost over ninety (90!) pounds. I like that in this DVD, they included the winner of last season. Richard and I were cheering for him the whole time, so when I was learning the steps today, I liked that Ruben was part of it. Plus, it was fun.

I also bought Dancing with the Stars Latin Cardio and I'm looking forward to trying it out. Richard and I watched DWTS last season and I was amazed at Kelly Osbourne's transformation. I'm not expecting nearly as much change, since I don't plan on dancing for 8 hours every day like they did. That's never going to happen. But as much as I want the weight loss, I'd also like the boost of confidence that Kelly got. I need it. Plus, I'd love to just be healthier.

At any rate, I think between the three new DVDs, my good ole "Sweatin' to the Oldies" tape, Wii Fit and the boxing game we got, I have no excuse for not doing something each day, even if it's just part of the video.

As much as I love to help other people and will do whatever it takes to make someone happy, I realize I tend to just give up on myself. I'm hoping this is the year that changes... I'm not getting any younger, and I really feel like this is the time to prove to myself that I can do it. So I wish you all luck with whatever you have resolved to change in your own lives, and I hope you'll wish me luck as well. Happy New Year!

Kelly Osbourne, Shmelly Osbourne. You're gonna do great, and maybe someday, sometime, you'll dance with Donny Osmond and be that lucky kid from Utah with the dreams of making it big!

And I'll play Super Mario and win like a champ too. :)
